Continuum of Care
Continuum of care retirement communities offer several care levels at one location, from Independent living through assisted living and skilled nursing. As health needs change, one can move through the levels of care without relocating.
Independent Living Communities
Independent Living Communities offer an independent environment with 24 hour personal assistance. Many options are available from freestanding large communities, personal care boarding homes, or continuum communities. Services include 3 meals a day, housekeeping, social activities and help with personal needs.
Retirement Communities
Retirement communities offer apartment living on a rental basis. Communal dining and a full list of activities are available. Sometimes housekeeping, laundry, and other assisted living services are available.
Assisted Living Homes
Assisted living facilities offer an independent environment with 24-hour personal assistance. Many options are available—from freestanding large facilities, personal care boarding homes, or continuum facilities. Services often include communal meals, housekeeping, social activities and help with personal needs.
Skilled Nursing
Skilled nursing communities are licensed to provide 24-hour medical services by registered nurses, rehabilitation therapists, occupational therapists, and certified nurse assistants. These communities are for people who are rehabilitating after being discharged from a hospital. They may also provide long term services for those who are chronically ill.
Active Independent Living
These are retirement communities designed for active adults. These usually feature low-maintenance apartments, condominiums, town homes, or single family residences. Amenities vary among communities. In Tucson, these include SaddleBrooke, Sun City Vistoso, and Heritage Highlands, among others.
Alzheimer's/Memory Care Facilities
These units provide 24-hour assistance with dressing, bathing, meals, medical monitoring, and transfer assistance. These can be large or small facilities and have secure areas where residents may move about. |
